All too often

A child grows

With the strain and stress of

Their loved ones’ traumas

Clinging to their shoulders

At every stage that they get older

The strain holds a little tighter

But they get stronger

Until they’re ready

To adorn their mask

Sling their cape behind them

And step into their power

A superhero of their family’s past

With kindness and understanding

They walk each day with purpose

To make the world a better place
